Autour d'elle
by Sophie Bienvenu
Description
In 1996, a sixteen-year-old teenager gives birth in secret to a boy in a Montreal hospital. Autour d’elle recounts twenty years in the lives of Florence Gaudreault and her biological son through the eyes of characters who have crossed their paths in one way or another and who are now telling their own version of the story.
This polyphonic novel surveys the depths of the human heart and explores love in all its forms, be it lost love, all-powerful love, destructive love or rediscovered love.

Reviews
• “This novel is extraordinary. Magnificent.”
— Michel Tremblay, writer, author of Les Belles-soeurs
• “It’s a considerable feat. A truly moving story.”
— Rebecca Makonnen, ARTV/Esprit critique
• “The accumulation and juxtaposition of the different voices, the different discourses make Autour d’elle an exceptional novel. The large spectrum of registers used so masterfully by Sophie Bienvenu is in itself a prowess.”
— Danielle Laurin, Le Devoir
