Author Biography
Yang Yuan, former Deputy Curator of the China National Museum of Women and Children, is a Research Fellow in Cultural Relics and Museums. She served as Curator of the Ethnic Costume Museum at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology from 1999 to 2007, and concurrently held positions including Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Ethnological Society, Director of the Costume Professional Committee of the Chinese Museums Association, and President of the Chinese Ethnic Costume Research Association.
Her research focuses on the weaving and embroidery techniques of traditional costumes, the research and identification of ethnic cultural relics, and the protection of intangible cultural heritage, with a particular specialization in ethnic costume studies. Over the past two decades, she has conducted extensive field investigations and collected ethnic cultural relics in various ethnic minority regions across China.
Her major publications in recent years include: An Illustrated Encyclopedia of China's Ethnic Costume Culture; Silver Adornments and Gorgeous Colors: China's Ethnic Costumes; China's Costumes: A Century of Fashion; Volume Two of Complete Collection of Chinese Weaving, Embroidery and Costumes: Ethnic Minority Costumes; and Editor-in-Chief of the four-volume series Studies on China's Ethnic Costume Crafts.
