Functional Electrospun Fiber Material
by Ding Bin,Yu Jianyong
Description
This book presents a systematic knowledge of functional electrospun fiber materials, spanning from fundamental principles to cutting-edge applications. It moves beyond the traditional focus on fabrication techniques by establishing, for the first time, a comprehensive and interdisciplinary framework centered on the "Structure-Function-Application" paradigm. The scope extends from the precise design and manipulation of fiber structures to their latest innovative uses in frontier fields such as filtration and separation, catalysis, energy, biomedicine, and flexible electronics.
The target readership includes senior undergraduates, graduate students, researchers, and industrial engineers in materials science, chemical engineering, and nanotechnology. With detailed case studies and presentations of forefront research, this book not only equips readers with the core knowledge and practical skills of the field but also inspires innovative thinking in the design of advanced functional materials.

Author Biography
- Ding, the Vice President of Shanghai Polytechnic University, has been recognized as Distinguished Young Scientist by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, "Changjiang Scholar" by the Chinese Ministry of Education, and Leading Talent in the National "Ten Thousands Plan". Prof. Ding has been named a Highly Cited Chinese Researcher by Elsevier for five consecutive years and is among the World's Top 2% Scientists. Since 2000, Prof. Ding has made significant contributions to the controllable fabrication, functionalization, and industrial application of fibrous materials, which have found extensive use in thermal insulation, warmth retention, filtration, waterproof and breathable membranes, and energy electronics. His research has led to the establishment of three companies that commercialize technologies developed in his laboratory. Prof. Ding has authored and co-authored over 500 peer-reviewed SCI papers published in prestigious journals such as Nat. Commun., Sci. Adv., Adv. Mater., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. etc., achieving an H-index of 113. Additionally, he has edited three Chinese books and two English books, co-edited 13 book chapters, and holds over 200 approved innovation patents. Prof. Ding has undertaken more than 40 research projects funded by various organizations, including the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and the industrial community. In recognition of his outstanding work, he has received numerous prestigious honors, such as the Distinguished Achievement Award from The Fiber Society (USA), the First Prize for Natural Science in Shanghai, and the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Shanghai, etc.
- Yu is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a professor at Donghua University, and a doctoral supervisor. Professor Yu has long been committed to scientific research and teaching in the fields of textile materials and composite materials, conducting fundamental theoretical studies, key technological breakthroughs, and application-oriented research in areas such as the development of natural fiber resources, the creation and application of chemical fibers, functional fiber materials, and fiber-reinforced composites. He has broken through the key technologies for the refinement of jute fibers and the processing of related products, promoting the in - depth development and utilization of natural fiber resources; He has overcome critical challenges in the manufacturing of bamboo pulp fibers and their product applications, advancing the industrial development of biomass fibers. Additionally, he has established a novel compact spinning technology system, driving the high-end development of textile products. His accolades include two Second Prizes of the National Technology Invention Award and two Second Prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. He has co-authored five books, published over 400 academic papers, and been granted more than 100 national invention patents. He has supervised over 100 graduate students. Prof. Yu was honored with the inaugural "China Textile Academic Award" by the China Textile Engineering Society in 2011, recognized as an Outstanding Contributor to the Textile Industry over the 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up in 2018, and awarded the title of "Honorary Sangma Scholar" in 2018.
