Author Biography
Jiang Yuqiu, PhD
Doctoral Supervisor, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT)Has been teaching at BIFT since 2003, with research focuses on the history of ancient Chinese costumes and the history of dyeing & weaving technologies.
She has long been committed to the teaching philosophy of "imparting knowledge and inheriting craftsmanship, learning from the past to innovate," advocating the study of ancient Chinese costumes from a technical perspective and the application of innovative design based on traditional dyeing and weaving techniques. Leading her team, she has completed several specialized research projects, including the restoration of costumes for the scholar's capping ceremony and village archery ceremony of the Zhou Dynasty, the restoration of costumes and embroidery unearthed from the Mawangdui Han Tomb in Changsha, the restoration of costume images of figures in Tang Dynasty Dunhuang murals, and the restoration of typical costume forms of the Ming Dynasty.
She has published numerous academic papers and served as chief author, co-author, or translator of works such as Hanfu: Traditional Clothing of the Han Chinese, A Cultural History of Beijing's Costumes, Finery and Silk: Fashion of Women's Clothing in Ancient China, and Stitch by Stitch: Handicrafts of Miao Ethnic Minority Costumes in Guizhou.
