Tamara Vučković and Tihana Lipovec Fraculj are the authors of these four picture books that aim to develop socio-emotional competences in children. In order to grow up into competent, responsible, self-confident and stable individuals, children need to learn some skills from a young age that will help them adapt, but also cope with other individuals, the environment and society as a whole.
In this series, we have addressed the following skills and competences: responsibility, assertive communication, self-regulation of emotions and self-confidence. Through cute children's characters, their peers, preschool and early elementary school children can learn how to help themselves in situations when they are overwhelmed by unpleasant emotions such as fear, passivity, anger or sadness. Through very humorous and imaginative stories, together with the characters from the stories, they will go through incredible episodes and interesting experiences that can be helpful to them in their everyday situations.
Picture books are also a very good tool for parents, educators and teachers as an educational tool with very powerful messages that open up space for further discussions and learning.

Author Biography
Author: Tihana Lipovec Fraculj
Tihana Lipovec Fraculj has a master’s degree in Croatian language, literature and theatre studies. For many years she had worked as a teacher, and she was also editor in chief of a children’s magazine called „Bambino “. Her life project is Creative centre “Košnica” which she has been running for 14 years and where she works with children in art workshops – drama, acting, singing and dancing. Tihana writes fairytales, short stories, songs and plays. She’s an actor in children’s plays and dubs cartoons for cinemas. Together with her long-time colleague and friend, she is a co-founder of “Happiness Training Room”, where she practices socio-emotional competencies with children.
Author: Tamara Vučković
Tamara Vučković has a master’s degree in English and had worked as a teacher in a primary school for almost two decades. Her special area of interest is the emotional intelligence of children, mindfulness and socio-emotional competencies. She is author of many children’s books and runs “Happiness Training Room”, where she practices socio-emotional competencies with children that will help them grow into happy and contented people. She holds training courses for parents, educators and professional associates on the topic of quality child education.
Illustrator: Jelena Brezovec
Jelena Brezovec has a master’s degree in social studies. For a long time, drawing was just a hobby, until 2008 when she became a co-founder of the publishing house Evenio and decided to study digital illustration, with the focus on children’s illustration. So far, she has illustrated more than 40 picture books and many other publications. She is the winner of the Grigor Vitez “Bird” Award, a special praise from the children’s jury. She has illustrated the most popular children’s book series in Croatia – Mrljek & Prljek. Her illustrations have been part of many exhibitions throughout Croatia. She lives and works in Varaždin, Croatia.
