The Guy Book
by Atilla Yoldaş
Description
Boys are being told who to be—before they’ve had a chance to find out for themselves. Atilla Yoldaş’s groundbreaking handbook gives middle-grade boys the tools to stay true to themselves during early adolescence, a critical time of emotional growth and identity formation. Challenging harmful stereotypes like “boys don’t cry” or “real boys only play football,” the book introduces alternative models of masculinity rooted in empathy, vulnerability, equality, and inclusion.
Covering puberty, gender expectations, emotional intelligence, consent, relationships, mental health, and the importance of positive male role models, it equips adults to have meaningful conversations with boys at a crucial developmental stage. By addressing social pressures, homophobia, violence, and school disengagement, Yoldaş offers a practical, accessible, and deeply personal roadmap for raising confident, compassionate young men.
