Die Dichterin Sylvia Plath, geboren 1932 in Boston, verheiratet mit dem Dichter Ted Hughes, wurde nach ihrem Selbstmord 1963 in London mit dem Roman Die Glasglocke und dem Gedichtband Ariel zu einer internationalen Ikone der Frauenbewegung.
