»Vergiß die Politik, lies keine Zeitung, geh nicht ins Netz, verweigere deine Stimme« – so beginnt der »Linke Marsch«, ein Kapitel aus Serhij Zhadans zweitem Prosaband, dem ein Song der Sex Pistols, Anarchy in the UKR, als Motto dient. Zhadan ist dabei, sich zur stärksten Stimme der jungen ukrainischen Literatur zu entwickeln – und zum Antipoden von Juri Andruchowytsch. Auch Zhadans Ich-Erzähler ist ständig im Zug oder in bizarren Landschaften unterwegs. Doch es zieht ihn nicht zu den Ruinen der habsburgischen Vergangenheit, sondern in die Industriebrachen des Donbass im Südosten des Landes – an die Orte des von den Sowjets zerschlagenen Anarchokommunismus. Niemand scheint sich an Nestor Machno zu erinnern. Anarchismus, das gab es nie. Bis er im November 2004 in Charkiw, zu Füßen des »Fuck-Lenin-Denkmals«, wiederaufersteht.

The nationwide popular uprising against the regime of President Yanukovych had led to a change of power: the former parliamentary opposition formed a new government, resulting in a loss of influence for Russia. Russian agents therefore tried to bring about a "Crimea scenario", another secession in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine. The resulting "Ukraine conflict", often called a civil war, is in fact a Russian war of attrition against Ukraine. President Putin intends to resolve it on his terms in the Minsk process: through a de facto "autonomous" part of the Donbass in the Ukrainian state, independent of Kiev, as a lever for Russian political influence. Winfried Schneider- Deters, a renowned expert on Ukraine, analyses narratively and in detail the events from 2013 to 2019 and places the Russian- Ukrainian conflict in the context of the dawning "Chinese century".

Juri Andruchowytsch, geboren 1960 in Iwano-Frankiwsk/Westukraine, dem früheren galizischen Stanislau, studierte Journalistik und begann als Lyriker. Außerdem veröffentlicht er Essays und Romane. Andruchowytsch ist einer der bekanntesten europäischen Autoren der Gegenwart, sein Werk erscheint in 20 Sprachen. 1985 war er Mitbegründer der legendären literarischen Performance-Gruppe Bu-Ba-Bu (Burlesk-Balagan-Buffonada). Mit seinen drei Romanen Rekreacij (1992; dt. Karpatenkarneval, 2019), Moscoviada (1993, dt. Ausgabe 2006), Perverzija (1999, dt. Perversion, 2011), die unter anderem ins Englische, Spanische, Französische und Italienische übersetzt wurden, ist er unfreiwillig zum Klassiker der ukrainischen Gegenwartsliteratur geworden. Sabine Stöhr, 1968 geboren, studierte Slawistik in Mainz und Simferopol. Seit 2004 übersetzt sie aus dem Ukrainischen, v.a. die Werke von Juri Andruchowytsch und, gemeinsam mit Juri Durkot, das Romanwerk von Serhij Zhadan. 2014 wurde sie mit dem Johann-Heinrich-Voß-Preis für Übersetzung ausgezeichnet. Ebenfalls 2014 erhielt sie, gemeinsam mit Juri Durkot und dem Autor, den Brückepreis Berlin für Die Erfindung des Jazz im Donbass von Serhij Zhadan. 2018 wurde Sabine Stöhr und Juri Durkot der Preis der Leipziger Buchmesse verliehen für ihre Übersetzung des Romans Internat von Serhij Zhadan.

Consecrating churches and reforming society in eleventh-century Italy

The so-called Investiture Conflict was a watershed moment in the political life of the Latin West and the history of the papacy. Occurring at a time of rapid social change and political expansion, the eleventh-century reform movement became a debate centered on a ritual: the investment of bishops with the signs of their sacred and secular authority. The consecration of bishops, however, was only one of several contemporaneous conflicts over the significance of consecrations. Less well known is that which occurred over the dedication of churches. This book provides an examination of the consecration, placing the fundamental questions of the Gregorian Reform and Investiture Conflict back into their original liturgical framework. This context allows us to consider the symbolic richness of the liturgy that attracted large numbers of people. ;

Asserts that the War was a watershed in official media manipulation and in the aftermath of the conflict the Government's previously informal and ad hoc attempts to shape press reporting were placed on a more formal basis. ;
