View Rights PortalDave Haslam presents conversations with creative trailblazers. Over forty years, DJ, writer and broadcaster Dave Haslam has interviewed some of the most fascinating figures in music, literature, film and art. Creative journeys gathers revelatory conversations with creative characters including Neneh Cherry, Maxine Peake, Lemn Sissay, Andrew Weatherall, Raymond Carver and Jeremy Deller. From politics and performance to art, fame and addiction, Haslam's interviewees speak with honesty about their creative journeys. Viv Albertine discusses 'Typical Girls' and Paddy Considine recalls Dead Man's Shoes. Jarvis Cocker goes deep into 'This is Hardcore'. Terry Hall and Miki Berenyi speak about childhood trauma. Bernard Sumner recalls the loss of Ian Curtis. Jonathan Franzen talks about torturing his characters. There's darkness but much humour too. The interviews provide fascinating stories of unorthodox, creative artists navigating negativity and personal setbacks to become celebrated cultural icons.
Jeremy Krauss, one of the last students of Mosché Feldenkrais, has been practicing the Feldenkrais Method for over 40 years and has developed the Jeremy Krauss Approach (JKA) during the past 15 years in his work with children with special needs. This interprofessional approach can provide skill-based support for children with a variety of developmental delays. Krauss looks back on treatment successes with atypically developed individuals whose difficulties are located in the neurological, psychological, or socioemotional domain. Using numerous case studies, Krauss reflects on his experiences, which are connectable to topics such as motor learning, neuroplasticity and developmental psychology. Didactically, JKA is based on close observation of movement sequences and individual movement patterns. The focus is on variations in the dynamic transition from one position to another and the associated individual developmental steps.

A fresh anthropological look at a central but neglected topic: the profound changes in rural life throughout Western Europe today. As locals leave for jobs in cities they are replaced by neo-hippies, lifestyle-seekers, eco-activists, and labour migrants from beyond the EU. With detailed ethnographic examples, contributors analyse new modes of living rurally and emerging forms of social organisation. As incomers' dreams come up against residents' realities, they detail the clashes and the cooperations between old and new residents. They make us rethink the rural/urban divide, investigate regionalists' politicisation of rural life and heritage, and reveal how locals use EU monies to prop up or challenge existing hierarchies. They expose the consequences of and reactions to grand EU-restructuring policies, which at times threaten to turn the countryside into a manicured playground for escapee urbanites. This book will appeal to anyone seriously interested in the realities of rural life today.
