Dino Fino GmbH
The children's books from Dino Fino Publishing are a possibly unique feature worldwide. Two siblings of different ages offer stories and books for children from diapers to braces. All the picture books have been or will be filmed word for word. Children who want to learn to read can therefore read along with the movie word for word. We call that picture book cinema. The first book about “Schnecki” is available on our website as PDFs in numerous languages, and the films can also be viewed there. The Feodora + Gino stories are divided into two book series: Large-format picture books are for children aged 2 to 4. When the children are a bit older and can understand slightly more complex stories, they switch to our reading books about Feodora + Gino. And when they have grown out of that age, they can read the books about Fee's brother and his cheeky little T-Rex friend. The book series about Dino + Ricky is written for children aged 6 to 10. These books are a little more challenging, cheeky and exciting, Our stories can therefore accompany children throughout their childhood. One of our readers once said: “The books from Dino Fino Publishing are like eating chips: Once you start, you never want to stop”.

Humanities & Social SciencesMay 2016Chagos Islanders in Mauritius and the UK
Forced displacement and onward migration
by Laura Jeffery, Alexander Smith
The Chagos islanders were forcibly uprooted from the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean between 1965 and 1973. This is the first book to compare the experiences of displaced Chagos islanders in Mauritius with the experiences of those Chagossians who have moved to the UK since 2002. It thus provides a unique ethnographic comparative study of forced displacement and onward migration within the living memory of one community. Based on in-depth ethnographic fieldwork in Mauritius and Crawley (West Sussex), the six chapters explore Chagossians' challenging lives in Mauritius, the mobilisation of the community, reformulations of the homeland, the politics of culture in exile, onward migration to Crawley, and attempts to make a home in successive locations. Jeffery illuminates how displaced people romanticise their homeland through an exploration of changing representations of the Chagos Archipelago in song lyrics. Offering further ethnographic insights into the politics of culture, she shows how Chagossians in exile engage with contrasting conceptions of culture ranging from expectations of continuity and authenticity to enactments of change, loss and revival. The book will appeal particularly to social scientists specialising in the fields of migration studies, the anthropology of displacement, political and legal anthropology, African studies, Indian Ocean studies, and the anthropology of Britain, as well as to readers interested in the Chagossian case study. ;

Humanities & Social SciencesApril 2006Devolution and electoral politics
by Dan Hough, Charlie Jeffery
This book presents a comparative perspective on the new dynamics of electoral competition following devolution to Scotland and Wales. It brings together leading experts on elections, political parties and regional politics from Britain, Europe and North America to explore the dynamics and interactions of national and regional arenas of electoral competition. Chapters include theoretical reflections on the relationship between regional and national elections, and a range of country case studies. The aim of the non-British case studies is to establish both empirical benchmarks and a framework for analysis for exploring the dynamics of electoral competition, the adaptation of party strategies and the nuances of voting behaviour that the UK is likely to encounter in a situation where new Welsh and Scottish elections flank general elections to Westminster. The final section of the book offers detailed discussion of these multi-level electoral dynamics now at play in the UK. ;
