Curious? If you are looking for children's books with a universal message of hope and connectedness, we'd love the opportunity to meet with you. Inner Flower Child Books is a children's book publisher founded in California in 2012 by the creative team of author Susan Schaefer Bernardo (M.A. English Languages and Literature, Yale University) and illustrator Courtenay Fletcher (BFA Advertising/Graphic Design, Art Center College of Design). These artists and their team produce profound, touching, and humorously inspiring books that have become very successful in the US. With wittiness, humor, and intelligence — with rhymes at times — they create stories that promote children's language and social capabilities development. Partly because of that, Susan’s and Courtenay's picture books are used nationwide by schools, children's charities, therapists, and families across the United States to help children and youth heal from problems, large and small. At a time when the whole world is being hit by the trauma of a pandemic, books such as “Sun Kisses and Moon Hugs” bring children and young people a comforting message of love and connection. The colorfully illustrated and inspiring picture books contain generally assignable topics such as healing trauma, bringing people closer to living a sustainable life, and the power of creative expression — predestined to be successful worldwide. Und damit löste sie eine Revolution im Gesundheitswesen aus. Sie wurde zur »Mutter der modernen Krankenpflege«. Little People, Big Dreams erzählt von den beeindruckenden Lebensgeschichten großer Menschen: Jede dieser Persönlichkeiten, ob Philosophin, Forscherin oder Sportler, hat Unvorstellbares erreicht. Sie braucht keine Gesellschaft, die sie ohnehin nur von der Arbeit abhalten würde, und als nun ihr Sohn Dan mit seiner Frau Janine und der halbwüchsigen Tochter Emily nach New York kommt, passt ihr das gar nicht. Emily hingegen sucht die Nähe zu Florence, gerade jetzt, wo sie sich von ihrem Freund getrennt hat – und nun auch noch die Ehe ihrer Eltern ins Wanken gerät. Ganz wie ihre Großmutter ist sie beharrlich und kämpferisch. Das gefällt Florence, und vielleicht kann sie Emily an sich heranlassen, eigentlich könnte sie ein wenig Hilfe auch gut gebrauchen – wenn da nur nicht ihr Stolz wäre … Ein ebenso kluger wie unterhaltsamer und humorvoller Roman über eine Familie und ihre eigenwillige Matriarchin, die gar keine sein will – mit Charakteren, die so lebendig sind, als liefe man ihnen in New York an der nächsten Straßenecke über den Weg.

James Tod's journeys among the Rajputs

This study of the British colonial administrator James Tod (1782-1835), who spent five years in north-western India (1818-22) collecting every conceivable type of material of historical or cultural interest on the Rajputs and the Gujaratis, gives special attention to his role as a mediator of knowledge about this little-known region of the British Empire in the early nineteenth century to British and European audiences. The book aims to illustrate that British officers did not spend all their time oppressing and inferiorising the indigenous peoples under their colonial authority, but also contributed to propagating cultural and scientific information about them, and that they did not react only negatively to the various types of human difference they encountered in the field.

It concludes with a discussion of new hospital gardens being created by designers such as Dan Pearson in the twenty-first century. This book will be essential reading for those interested in the histories of place, space and material culture, and in particular medical historians, garden historians and historical geographers. ;
