Mitten in London wird der Dokumentarfilmer Niall Zeuge eines bestialischen Attentats auf einen jungen Mann, begangen von Dschihadisten. Als er für eine Reportage die Hintergründe dieser Tat erforscht, gerät er in einen Strudel aus Angst und Gewalt, befeuert von politischen Machenschaften und den Medien. Er ahnt nicht, wie sehr sein Leben mit dem Terrorakt verwoben ist, bis es endgültig aus den Fugen gerät. Wie hypnotisiert nimmt Niall mit der Handykamera auf, wie zwei Männer mit Macheten einen Soldaten in Zivil niedermetzeln. Die beiden Täter bemerken die Kamera, bekennen sich im Namen Allahs zu dem Mord und schwenken stolz die Flagge des Islamischen Staats. Ab diesem Moment ist Nialls Leben nicht mehr, wie es war. Er nimmt den Auftrag an, eine Dokumentation über den Terrorakt zu drehen, und weiß nicht, dass er mit grausamer Absicht für diese besondere Aufgabe ausgewählt wurde …
