Memo is a circus elephant who lives in Switzerland, but because it is too cold for him there, he wants to return to his home country of Botswana. Unfortunately, though, Memo is very forgetful. So it’s a good thing that he has lots of friends among the other circus animals who teach him memory techniques to help him on his adventurous journey. Target Group: parents; teachers; social workers specializing in education; school psychological and medical services; psychiatric services for children; student teachers The memory training program with Memo the elephant is based on neuroscientific principles and has been developed, used, and successfully tested at the University Children’s Hospital in Bern, Switzerland. The program focuses on teaching effective memory strategies and improves the working memory. Its six simple units have been shown to produce sustainable improvement in learning in children from the age of seven. Memo Training is the product of a major research project conducted at the Inselspital in Bern by the neuropsychologists PD Dr. Regula Everts and Dr. Barbara Ritter.

It explores the British and European reception of Blake's work from the late nineteenth century to the present day, with a particular focus on the counterculture. This special issue of the Bulletin of the John Rylands Library is devoted to the Aldine edition of the Ancient Greek epistolographers. Published in Venice in 1499 by Aldus Manutius, the Aldine edition was the first printed edition of most of the thirty-six Greek letter collections that it contains. As such, it embodies the intersection between the medieval epistolary anthologies that predated it and the printed editions of Greek epistolographic collections that followed, which were primarily based on its text. In recent decades, the Aldien edition has been the subject of important works, which have sought to analyse its contents and sources. This issue explores the Aldine edition from three perspectives: its relationship to the epistolary collections found in medieval manuscripts, its relationship to the printed editions that followed it and its legacy and value for the modern scholar studying Ancient Greek epistolography.

This book makes a critical and historical analysis of the public information poster and its graphic derivatives in Britain and Europe during the First World War. Governments need public support in time of war. The First World War was the first international conflict to see the launch of major publicity campaigns designed to maintain public support for national needs and government policies. What we now know as spin has its origins in the phenomenon. Then, as now, the press, photography and film played an important role, but in the early 20th century there was no radio, television or internet and the most publicly visible advertising medium was the poster. Considering the museological and memorialising imperatives behind the formation of the war publicity collection at the Imperial War Museum, this fascinating book goes on to provide constitutional and iconographical analyses of the British Government recruiting, War Loan and charity campaigns; the effect of the inroads of the poster into important public and symbolic spaces; a comparative analysis of European poster design and the visual contribution of the poster through style and iconography to languages of 'imagined communities'; and the construction of the individual subject.
