Helvetia Editrice
Edizioni Helvetia was born in 1972 from an idea of the poet and musician Gianni Spagnol who, after a six-year experience in Zurich as a printer at an important publishing complex, wanted to found in Venice - between Campo San Rocco and Campo San Tomà, not far from the Frari Church - a printing house/publishing house that would promote and stimulate the historical-literary production of the Venetian and Venetian area in detail. Then, with the 90s, the company was moved to the mainland. In 2006, with the acquisition by its granddaughter Daniela Spagnol, the name changed to Helvetia Editrice and the publications continued to explore themes linked to the territory, especially in the "Rosso Veneziano" series - which gathers historical curiosities, with a "popular" and mainly narrative slant - and the "VeneziaeVenetoVivo" series - more linked to pure historical non-fiction and documentation. Enriched with non-fiction and fiction, since 2019 Helvetia has been back in the game with two series that challenge the usual comfort zone by leaving the local territory: "Taccuini d'Autore" (Author's Notebooks), which collects books on the road, texts that travel and travel along the frontier of writing; and "Nuovi Territori" (New Territories), a line created to enhance new authors and unusual topics from experimental themes.

Hello and welcome to my presentation! I am Uwe Mayer, freelance Illustrator, author, designer and now also publisher of my children's picture book „DIE LAUFMASCHINE“, or in the English translation: “The Bicycling Baron". The book playfully tells the story of the invention of the bicycle from the very start. As a subject long overdue, it is original, based on fact and yet told in a humorous and original format with great illustrations throughout. DIE LAUFMASCHINE won the 1st prize from the State of Baden-Württemberg (Germany) for its original idea & concept in 2017. With further funding I was in the lucky position to not only create this important book project, but also publish it in 2019. Die Laufmaschine was nominated by the STIFTUNG BUCHKUNST for “Most Beautiful German Books" („Die Schönsten Deutschen Bücher“), Long List 2019. For this title I am offering foreign rights.

Dieses Buch ist für die ganze Familie geeignet, ebenso als Lesebuch für Schulklassen, Arbeitsmaterial für Therapeuten, aber auch als Lektüre für viele Anlässe. Zwanzig Gute-Nacht-Geschichten, laden ein «zum Träumen und machen Mut, dem Klang des eigenen Herzens zu folgen». Denn, träumen wir nicht alle von jenen Gute-Nacht-Geschichten, die uns das Träumen lehrten und uns ins wunderbare Land der Träume begleiteten? Eine kleine Umarmung am Abend;wer hat das nicht gern? Somit möchten diese Geschichten kleine Umarmungen verschenken, die Mut machen zu vertrauen, um Neues zu wagen; ja und das nicht nur im Traum.

Die deutsche Autorin Christine Heimannsberg präsentiert mit ihrer Debüt-Trilogie „Gelobtes Land“ eine ungewöhnliche, spannende Dystopie, die ökologische wie humanistische Themen geschickt im neuen Genre zusammenführt.
