RISE: The Jessica Phoenix Story
by Julie Fitz-Gerald
Description
RISE: The Jessica Phoenix Story tells the true story and remarkable journey of two time Olympian, now 5 time Pan AM medalist, equestrian Jessica Phoenix, and her 10 year journey to become one of the top eventers in the world.
It's a story about trial and triumph. It’s about a small-town girl with big dreams and the faith to realize them. It’s about fighting through life-threatening injuries and injustice to achieve a greater goal — and doing so with a level of determination, confidence, and grace that shines bright. It’s a powerful blueprint that we can all use to overcome the inevitable curveballs life throws at us.
RISE is more than a book: it has become a movement, including a HIT SONG and a popular book-tour at schools across Canada. (pre-pandemic)
The stunning cover photo of Jessica on Pavarotti was taken by Ellen Cameron, on a cold and damp summer morning, during the Pan AM torch relay, in 2015

Endorsements
"Jessica Phoenix takes all obstacles in stride, whether they be personal or on the back of her cherished horses. Her story is one of courage, talent and determination, coupled with her great love for horses and her intuitive knowledge of them. This book is inspirational, not just to riders who admire Jessica as a role model, but to everyone with a dream" - Shelley Peterson, "Sundancer" and "Mystery at Saddle Creek"
Dan Pollard, Morning Show, 105.5 HITS FM “Equestrians are unique athletes. To be successful they need to be able to intertwine themselves with the horse while remaining in charge. It is not an individual sport yet it requires a strong individual. Jessica does just that not only in her competitions but in life. She has the ability to lead while finding common ground with others. Her message is positive. Her message is inspiring. Julie has done a wonderful job revealing the athlete, the wife, the mother and the sister. This is not a book for just equestrians. It is a book for anyone navigating the challenges of life. Well done!”
