Souad Brahimi: You published your first novel in 2016: was this your first attempt at writing your first manuscript? Djawad Rostom Touati: No, the backbone of my first novel was a two-thirds-finished manuscript that I wrote in 2010, when I was 25. However, after questioning my vocation as a writer and my motivations for writing, I ended up putting the text in the drawer until I had begun to elucidate - in part - this question, which runs through my entire trilogy, particularly in the final section, “Misère de la littérature”. Author Biography
Born in Algiers in 1985, a journalist with a degree in international economics and host of a literary program on the Canal Algérie channel, Djawad Rostom Touati is the author of a first novel: ‘‘Un empereur nommé Désir’’, winner of the Prix Ali Maâchi in 2016, the first part of his trilogy: ‘‘Le culte du ça’’. With his novel ‘‘La civilisation de l'ersatz’’, the second part of his trilogy, he received the Prix Ahmed Baba de la rentrée littéraire du Mali in 2019. He is also the author of La scène et l'histoire (Apic éditions, 2020).
