by Li Yulai , Li Yufang
Description
This book compiles the ancient textile and embroidery artifacts collected and witnessed by the collector couple Li Yulai and Li Yufang. In particular, it carefully selects nearly a hundred pieces of artifacts from before the Ming and Qing dynasties, including:
- Typical brocades of successive dynasties, such as Tianzi Brocade (Heaven-Character Brocade), Jizi Brocade (Auspicious-Character Brocade), circular figure patterns, as well as representative patterns like turtle shell patterns and pearl chain patterns;
- Typical costumes of successive dynasties, such as long robes of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, fabric blanks of the Tang Dynasty, robe suits of the Liao and Jin dynasties, robes of the Yuan Dynasty, round-back shirts of the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, as well as dahu (a type of traditional Chinese outer garment), official robes, and tieli (a form-fitting robe) of the Ming Dynasty;
- Additionally, the privately collected textile and embroidery pieces from the Qing Dynasty featured herein are even more dazzling and diverse.
Drawing on their extensive collection experience, the authors have selected extremely precious and valuable representative artifacts from various dynasties to research and verify the essence of traditional Chinese textiles and embroidery.
