This is the first book-length study of the work of Andrew Feenberg. Feenberg is the foremost philosopher working in the field of technology studies and his work concerns the most urgent questions of our time. This book concentrates on his idea that technology design is an inherently political process and interrogates his account of the relationship between local disputes over the meanings of specific artefacts and wider changes that are necessary to move society on to more environmentally sustainable foundations.
