View Rights Portal— By the expert in ethical business — Once you have finished this, you will never fall for green financial lies again — Global Ethic Institute (Weltethos- Institut) network And suddenly every bank is sustainable. This truly necessary "debate book" explains in a wellfounded way what green-washing means in the financial sector, and why banks, insurance companies, asset managers, stockbrokers and other financial players clothe themselves in their allegedly so green-and-friendly cloak. It provides an easy-to-understand explanation of the various forms of greenwashing, how we can recognise the different "varieties" and – above all – how we can avoid them. This is also important because the entire financial and capital system is an important part of a sustainable future – and this can only succeed if it is honest, transparent and impact-orientated.
Freya and the Fearless - Plundering is a Skill! (Vol. 2) All Vikings are fearless? Not quite ... They call themselves "The Fearless" and they want to rob, plunder and pillage for all they're worth. The only problem is that the sight of a little girl makes them wet their pants. Freya has had enough of plundering Vikings and gives Heinar's people a good scare.What happens in Vol. 2:The sea is getting narrower and narrower, with land in sight to the right and left. So this must be England. Finally, our brave Vikings can once again plunder, rob and pillage to their heart's content. Heinar and his men sail leisurely up the Thames, until something blocks their way: Unfortunately, the British king's architects built the new bridge much too low. Now no ship can get out or back in and the English have to do without their beloved hot drink: tea. Freya and the Fearless turn Tower Bridge into a suspension drawbridge, bring back tea to the British, and casually invent the bearskin cap along the way.• A little girl shows the despondent Vikings what a real guy is• Funny sidekicks: The Odin family is watching from heaven• Innovative 90:10 text-image ratio, illustrated in b/w• For fans of ‘Vicky the Viking’ and ‘Asterix & Obelix’.• To be continued with Vol. 3 and 4
This is the first edition for students and general readers of this pro-woman reply to Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew' by a playwright (John Fletcher) who was more admired than Shakespeare in the seventeenth century. Co-edited by a feminist critic and a distinguished textual scholar, this new textbook makes clear why "The Tamer Tamed" should be restored to the theatrical repertoire and the literary canon. It includes the fullest commentary ever provided for the play, explaining for modern students Fletcher's verbal exuberance and his uninhibited sexual language. The full critical introduction describes the play's Renaissance context, its historical and literary sources (including Aristophanes's "Lysistrata"), and its subversive relationship to Shakespeare's "Shrew" and Ben Jonson's "The Silent Woman". It also surveys the play's subsequent theatrical and critical history. A unique and essential companion to the numerous textbook editions of Shakespeare's play, "The Tamer Tamed" provides exciting new material for current debates about the history of gender, marriage, and drama. ;
Freya and the Fearless (Vol. 1) - Off to Battle! They call themselves "The Fearless" and they want to rob, plunder and pillage for all they're worth. The only problem is that the sight of a little girl makes them wet their pants. Freya has had enough of plundering Vikings and gives Heinar's people a good scare. • A little girl shows the despondent Vikings what a real guy is • Funny sidekicks: The Odin family is watching from heaven • Innovative 90:10 text-image ratio, illustrated in b/w • For fans of ‘Vicky the Viking’ and ‘Asterix & Obelix’. • Volumes 2 and 3 coming in 2022 and 2023 Viking chief Heinar Hookepee leads a small troop of daring men into a new adventure. While it is being widely discussed who exactly should lead the attack, a little girl stands up to them - our heroine Freya. She's fed up with Vikings attacking her village all the time and angrily scolds Hookepee and his men - who are nowhere near as fearless and brave as they always pretend to be. Something has to change: The men have to learn to become real Vikings. And who better to teach them than the fearless Freya? So Freya lands on the Viking ship and, with a lot of wit and clever methods, tries to teach our sissy Vikings everything they are missing.
Scotland's past and future collide in this engaging journey through climate change, fossil capitalism and the struggle for a sustainable world. Scotland's history and future are entangled with climate change and the story of the modern world. This small country on the fringes of northern Europe pioneered fossil capitalism and played a key role in its spread across the planet. It is a living museum of the crisis of the west, of deindustrialisation, stagnation and the struggle to build a better future from the ashes. Journalist and sociologist Dominic Hinde travels from the treeless Highlands to the lowland cities, struggling to balance memories with aspiration. Through this journey he finds that his own sensory turmoil, shaped by recovery from a near fatal accident, mirrors the disarray of the fossil fuel transition - an uncertain passage between what was and what must be. Part memoir, part environmental history, part travelogue, this is a compelling narrative of connections - to place, energy and the possibility of renewal. Through the lens of one country, it asks a vital question: can the lessons of the past help us build a more sustainable future?
Vibes as value explores the relationship between subjectivity, labour and value in the hospitality industry, and thereby how youth, gender, sexuality, race and social class are embodied and made productive in the service economy. It shows that the key product of hospitality labour is 'vibes', or moments of enjoyment and relationality co-produced through exploitative relationships amongst workers and consumers. In the process, the book theorises hospitality as a form of affective labour organised through the normative and structural relations of precarious service work. It shows how identity construction produces value within the highly unequal social terrain of the service economy, and how hospitality labour enacts hierarchies of value extending far beyond the limits of the industry itself.
Tim, who with Annika and Malte has qualified for the second round, is confronted with the biggest challenge of his running career: he, his friends and their arch rivals Jeremy, Darius and Vanessa must form a team that will perform perfectly together. How well they succeed will be judged by millions of spectators, because every moment of this competition will be broadcast live by the media company Global Games. The decision as to who wins has long since ceased to be a matter of ability. Whether the prize is worth the challenge is open to question.
In this book, the complexity and the significance of the foods we eat are analysed from a variety of perspectives, by sociologists, economists, geographers and anthropologists. Chapters address a number of intriguing questions: how do people make judgments about taste? How do such judgments come to be shared by groups of people?; what social and organisational processes result in foods being certified as of decent or proper quality? How has dissatisfaction with the food system been expressed? What alternatives are thought to be possible? The multi-disciplinary analysis of this book explores many different answers to such questions. The first part of the book focuses on theoretical and conceptual issues, the second part considers processes of formal and informal regulation, while the third part examines social and political responses to industrialised food production and mass consumption. Qualities of food will be of interest to researchers and students in all the social science disciplines that are concerned with food, whether marketing, sociology, cultural studies, anthropology, human nutrition or economics.
This book is not a manual but provides an information kit so we can find our way intelligently and make decisions. Nutrition is a constant talking point, but often there is a lack of knowledge and judgement. Amidst this confusion of facts, Manfred Kriener clarifies the rapid change of our food culture. He covers the entire range from the vegan trend to insect food, from aquaculture to cultured meat. Kriener also focuses on the various obscure quality seals, chaotic labelling on the wine rack and our inconsistency as consumers. The new world of food in eleven chapters, spicy at times, but plenty of food for thought and to whet the appetite.

What knowledge does one need to be protected against misleading advertisements? - Learn how to recognise differences between the many types of sugar - Read where dangers lie, and which sugar does us good – and in what quantity - Understand how to interpret nutritional values – and that “no artificial sweetener ” does not mean “sugar-free” Welcome to the promising world of the sweet taste!
Adequate nutrition and a healthy lifestyle – before and during pregnancy - are of great importance for a trouble-free pregnancy, birth, and the subsequent development of the child. Since the nutritional status before the onset of pregnancy influences both fertility and the course of pregnancy, including complications, the birth and breastfeeding, close attention should be paid to a healthy diet and adequate supply of essential (micro)nutrients well in advance and not only at the family planning stage. Poor micronutrient status prior to conception is often carried over into pregnancy, and can significantly increase the risk of pregnancy complications and, for example, lead to the dreaded spina bifida in the child. This patient guide tells you what you need to know! Various micronutrients are described in detail. Special emphasis is placed on the latest study results concerning pregnancy and nutrition.
